Turning a Prune into a Prune
When the field bins, full of prunes, arrive at the Dehydrator they are dumped into the dipper for a little wash.Prunes are then placed on to trays. Each tray has only one layer of prunes.Once each tray recieves its Prunes, the trays are then mechanically stacked. Now the stack of trays are ready for the dehydrator.Stacks of trays wait their turn to enter the tunnels. Each tunnel is full of hot air which is used to dry down the prunes.Every hour, a new stack is pushed into the tunnel. When one stack is pushed in, another is pushed out. It takes 19 hours to dry down the prunes. When the prunes are done they contain 20% moisture.
